VIOLATIONS

According to the Health and Safety Executive, violation can be defined as: "A deliberate deviation from a rule or procedure".

Violations can be classified as routine, situational and exceptional.

Routine violations involve circumstances where the breaking of rules or procedures has become a normal way of working within the work group.

Situational violations involve the breaking of the rules due to pressures from the specific job being performed.

Exceptional violations are rare and usually happen when something else has gone wrong. A rule is broken in order to solve the new problem that has arisen.
